BBRC are thrilled to welcome Andrew Holden as the new Chair of the BBRC.

"I am pleased to assume this role within the BBRC team to help continueBBRC member Andrew Holden the good work of Paul French, whom I’m delighted is now tackling our records backlog as Secretary. With nearly one thousand records being assessed this year, BBRC have never been busier."

Speaking on his experiences in birding, we wanted to find out what his favourite birding experience was?

"I always fondly recall a Grey-cheeked Thrush Catharus minimus with my wife, Vicky on St. Martin’s, Isles of Scilly, largely because we were alone on a path either side of it at point-blank range. Subsequently finding another on St. Mary’s, which had previously been seen on St. Agnes, hasn’t dulled my memories of that St. Martin’s bird.
Connecting with the White-rumped Swift Apus caffer at Hornsea Mere, Yorkshire was particularly pleasing as it was the first serious twitch we’d undertaken since the birth of our daughter. I had to clarify to Vicky that the news was ‘only’ of a Pacific Swift apus pacificus once we were on the road, but my conviction it would likely prove to be White-rumped allowed us the time to get there for good views."

And finally, we wanted to find out about his happiest memory out birding

"My happiest birding usually involves great views, ideally of large numbers of birds, but sadly most such encounters were some years ago and abroad. The incredible birdlife at Armash Fishponds in Armenia and truly impressive falls of migrants in places like Aqaba, Jordan, or Magee Marsh in Ohio, USA were joyous experiences."
