First record of albinism in an Osprey

In spring 2021, a pair of Ospreys Pandion haliaetus bred in the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve, Basque Country, Spain, the first time that the species has bred on the Spanish northern coast since it became extinct in the area over a century ago. Both parents came from reintroduction programmes: the male was hatched in Scotland and translocated to Urdaibai in 2013 as part of a reintroduction programme that ran in the area between 2013 and 2017, while the female was hatched in the Orlбans forest, north-central France, and was translocated to Landes, southwest France, in 2018.
